University Of California, Santa Barbara Gauchos
The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos finished the regular season as second in the Big West tournament and a new era has begun for their men's basketball program.
The Gauchos were swept by a Cal Poly team that had been in last place all season and had been beaten 26-29 in a series at UC Riverside. Theyad advanced to the Big West tournament, where L.A. State won the College Division with a hard-fought victory over the conference's second-ranked team.
While UC Santa Barbara got a game - a high 21 points from Ila Lane - USC shot 37 percent in the first half and extended its lead to 24-14. USC was just 2-8 at halftime and trailed by nine points after a long free throw at 34-26. But an 11-0 scoring spurt by the Gauchos was matched by a 10-1 run in less than two minutes.
Led by Coeds, who fell in love with Douglas Fairbanks' film "Gaucho," the Gauchos won their first NCAA title ever. I Championship in men's basketball. In 1992, the NCAA passed Division I and a referendum was passed to fund UCSB's expansion into other sports, including football, basketball, baseball, football and volleyball. I started a team, but I played college until I got promoted to League Two, and then I went to college.
The admissions office and visitor centre will remain closed until 2021, but members of the team will continue to be enrolled in classes. You can explore the campus and talk to current UCSB students at home, as well as visit current gauchos and alumni.
